If you have Windows, you should already have Windows Media Center which comes with Windows Vista Premium and Windows 7. Thats the program used to do the recording. All you'd need to get after that is the hardware. I think its so much easier and more efficent to have my PC set up as a DVR than a standalone box. Makes it easy to move files around, edit, making gifs/clips, upload to YT, etc... And I dont have to pay a monthly fee to a cable company to use it. Plus space is never much of an issue as I can just shuffle things to an external hard drive or flashdrive for longterm backup.

I have Windows 7 on my laptop. But, no sound card. So, would the DVR still work? Or, would it not record sound?

You'd need a TV tuner and the simplest options for laptop is getting a USB one like this:
http://www.amazon.co...ywords=TV TUNER
Connect that to your PC and then your cable to the end and you can watch and record tv

Fifty years?
Give me seventy-two years and maybe it'll be worth all the pomp and circumstance.
Fifty years is incredible for a show to reach.

Lesley sees Laura alive
Frisco meets Felicia
Frisco marries Felicia
Frisco watches Felicia marry Colton
Sean marries Tiffany
Robin meets Robert
Robin is rescued and runs to Anna
Lucy transforms
Bobbie and Monica held hostage
Monica and Alan fight with the red rubber bats
there are 50 episodes, so much to choose from...

Bobbie discovers Michael is her grandson
Bobbie discovers BJ is dead
Felicia learns BJ is dead
Ryan terrorizes Audrey
Tracy and the medicine
Tracy and Monica fight in the fountain
Robert takes Lucas from Bobbie
Robert and Anna die

Yeah not many shows hit that kind of milestone and none of the current soaps will hit that, probably not even Y&R, Days MIGHT hit it, but it's hard to tell.

Days will hit it.
Its renewed now through its 49th year, two months shy of its 50th actually. Im sure everyone will proclaim that its the shows last renewal, like they do everytime it is renewed.

I hope SOAPnet gives that show the same consideration if it or the network is still around in 2015.

SN has been going off the air for like 2 years now. It'll be hilarious if that's still the case in 2015
