While one can argue that this applies to 75% of any soaps' canvas, I do believe that there are some parent & child relationships that go beyond the pale of being terribly toxic on soaps (i.e.: Drucilla's mother preferring Olivia over her while pitting the two against one another on Y&R).

In your soap-watching experience, which relationship(s) apply/applies as the worst in soap history?

I always thought that Stephanie and Ridge's relation on B&B was toxic as she overloved him compared to the other children.

Recent, but i detest the way Fen is towards his parents. I would have never gone down this route of him mouthing off at them every chance he got and never would have done this cyber bully stuff. It would have been better if he was different despite who his parents were in the past....

Janet & Amanda

Even though they both love each other, it's a twisted situation.
Janet murdered and attempted to murder Amanda's own husband in her name. Janet also tried to guilt Amanda when she wouldn't visit her, ect., and accused her of not loving her anymore.

Vanessa/David on AMC was epic, though only for 3 years...

Stephanie/Ridge on B&B lasted 25 years and it was the epitome of a smothering mother, fabulously played by Susan Flannery. That was one toxic relationship that always veered on the incestuous, I like that Brad Bell went there in the late 2000s with Taylor taunting Stephanie about it.

Taylor and Phoebe was one of the worst?

Despite Brooke messing with Bridget's husbands and accidentally sleeping with Hope's bf, I think she has relatively decent relationships with both. They all got past that and have healthy mother/daughter relationships with each other now. Nowhere near as toxic and volatile as some others Ive seen whom never truly got over their issues like Days, Sami and Marlena, whom Im surprised hasnt been mentioned

Rebecca Hotchkiss and Gwen (Trassions). Any mother who loved their child, or even remotely liked them, would not do to their kid what Rebecca did to Gwen, and that was push her to that piece of filth, Epig, for the 10 years that mess was on the air.
