So it looks like no more ATWT or GL on DVD?? I received this news on an email tonight.

I'm whining in status as I got that email as well. There were supposed to be two additional GL releases (one was the Jennifer Richards discs), but now maybe we won't get the other one. That I find just sad especially if the work was done. It is also sad as they had the archive for a year, and so much wasn't released.

And we haven't heard any plans of this stuff being released anywhere else. If P&G was done with soaps they may just leave the stuff somewhere, or get rid of it entirely.

I had really wanted to see those 70s and 80s episodes.

I'm just glad Roger Newcomb chose as many old episodes as he did.

This reminds me, has anyone compiled comprehensive lists of what VHS or DVD releases are available for all the soaps? I'd be curious to see it. Though B&B's list would clearly be too long to compile probably, fans of that show seem to be very blessed with releases.

There were a lot of DVDs I wanted including ones from the other soaps they had the rights to like AW. If they would toss it in the trash that would be depressing as it should at least go to Paley.

Yeah, I wanted more 70's and especially 80's episodes. It's like ATWT and GL is being canceled all over again.

This is such sad news. I hate we never got a release for AW, SFT or Edge. I would've loved 20 episode Best Of collections for them. Hell, anything would've been nice. I always enjoyed these releases.

Even though I wasn't a die hard ATWT/GL fan, I really appreciated the effort that went into this project and hoped to see it grow and grow. Is it at all possible that their licensing may be renewed, what's the full story? The least PGP could do is release episodes on iTunes or something like that. When they streamed in partnership with AOL that was like a soap fan's dream come true, I was awestruck that that even happened. They should look back into it with another company or just establish their own streaming site.

I appreciate all of their efforts but I seriously wish I had known sooner. I delayed buying many sets. This kinda sucks.

So no streaming, either? What happened? Seemed like there were such long-term plans? I'm really surprised right now.

Looks like I'll be charging up the credit card tonight for Phillip, Lilden, Carjack, Bobkim and the Xmas discs.

I agree, I'm guessing sales weren't high enough to justify them renewing the contract on the soaps, but I wonder if they could've tried a different business model to make more money. I do think more sets geared towards recent stuff could've brought in money. A Nuke collection or Otalia collection (or an Olivia collection featuring Otalia) could've sold well. In general, the recent stuff is more familiar for the younger viewers who might not know the older ATWT or GL.

I think newer episodes might have helped. I know everyone wanted many releases but if I remember it right, didn't they have to basically dig through tapes, convert it (or whatever the process is called), etc. That all takes time. I'm impressed they got as much out as they did.

I just bought the ATWT mulit-pack using the discount code.

I wish they had a set schedule of releases. More than once I saw people here and at other sites say "I love to get that set, but I can't afford it right now." If there was a schedule people would have known to save the money to order. Also those of us who got the disks right away, we paid at a premium, and those who waited got coupons. That was also a bit frustrating.

I think having a clearer pattern on combined purchases would have helped (I assume this was all on P&G). Only a few times did you get a discount if you wanted more than one purchase. You would have to wait for a coupon.

If they'd had more sales if they'd done more later stuff, then I would have said good, but selfishly, I'm glad they had so much older stuff, as I wouldn't touch most of post-1995 ATWT or GL with a ten foot pole, in terms of paying money.

I keep thinking it's over, but apparently not.

I guess I should just be happy for what we got, but the whole thing depresses me.
