That's great. I know that there was spec about this when she was involved in the "Otalia" scenes during her return. Good for her. I remember a long time ago reading comments from a few lesbians talking about how they'd been inspired by Holly's character and felt drawn to her.

I just hope she gets a good TV or movie role soon so I can see her again.

I'm not really surprised, either (I would've had no idea a few years ago, though), but she just came out officially for the first time in public, so I see why it made the news.

Ha!

No shocker, but it's a nice article. Good for her. Posted Image

Okay Flannery, you're next!

I'm more surprised that she raised two grown children with her partner during the last 20 years. It was always sort of an open secret that she was a lesbian, but did anyone know she had started a family?

Oh God, only seeing the partial thread title on the main page, I was so afraid this was going to say that she'd died. :(

As Pam Long said when she saw her filming a guest appearance at Christmas, "God that woman is SEXY!"

How lovely! I'd read about the eco-farming aspect of her life - if SoapNet had actually cared about producing hit original (and soap-related) content, they should have recruited MG and GH's Lynn Herring for a reality show depicting their home lives on their farms - and had heard rumors that Maureen was "family," but I'm glad to read that she has had the happiness in her life that always eluded Holly. An amazing actress and, it sounds like, person.

Good for her. She's a great actress and it's nice to see she is loving her life and enjoying everything about it. Sounds like she also raised some great kids.

It's really a shame how she was pretty much shoved out of GL.

MG's sexuality is an open secret -- and really, no one's business but her own -- but I am so proud of her for coming out the way she does everything else: with dignity, and with class. God bless her.

Well, news comes in threes, right? First Joanna Johnson, now Maureen Garrett, so Susan Flannery could be the next one.

I'd never read any speculation about Maureen the same way most of have about Joanna or Susan.

I just hope she gets a good TV or movie role soon so I can see her again.

I'm hoping Y&R casts her as Phyllis and Avery's mother.

Or Melissa Reeves.

Meanwhile, I don't want Maureen Garrett anywhere near another soap, not even Y&R. These days, they wouldn't begin to know how to write for someone as good as she.

There's only one woman I'd want as Lydia Summers, and it's this lady:

Or, if not her, then this lady:

I could see either one being "married" to Ken Howard's George, as well as going toe-to-toe with MS' Phyllis while defending Jessica Collins' Avery. Plus, in my wildest dreams, we'd learn that Phyllis was actually George's daughter by another woman -- a juicy confrontation and reveal either actress (Donna or Susan) would rock.
