The dark haired guy is Kevin O'Connor played by Kevin Bernhardt. He was the serial killer. The actor even filled in for Jack Wagner playing Frisco for a time when JW got in a hissy fit with Gloria Monty. The blonde is Guy Mack who played Patrick O'Connor. Boring doctor. Zzz.

And yes, DRW50, it was an odd time for the show. Tristan Rogers and Emma Samms had just left the show and there was a noticeable void in who should play a leading role on this show. Clearly, Terry and the O'Connor boys were not it.

I was reading a Doug Marland interview from late 1980, and he talked some about GH. This is probably all known but basically:

- He said one of the first things he did was clarify the relationship between Alan and Monica, because they spent most of their time talking about helicopter runs. He said there was an obvious sexual attraction, so he had them become lovers.

- When he watched the show before taking over, he didn't understand why no one walked. He wondered if they had no legs.

- He didn't think Jessie had enough story, so he put her in with Bobbie. He liked the actor who played Dan Rooney, so kept him around for the romance with Jessie.

- He wanted to bring Tracy in, but the network resisted. They had him bring in the whole family (I guess he means Edward and Lila). He felt the show really needed Tracy. He also praised Susan (middle-class bitch) and Bobbie (lower-class bitch).

- He felt that the show's women mostly had flaws (I guess he meant the younger women), so he brought in Anne, who was perfect, to be an ingenue.

- He said he regretted not ending the Heather baby saga when he took over the show. He felt it was plot-driven and forced. Viewers were torn over whether Heather or Diana should have the baby. In order to make them want Diana keep the baby, he had Steve disapprove of Jeff's marriage to Heather. He felt that viewers saw Steve as their voice, and if he disliked Heather, they would too.

- He said he added the story about Monica's relationship with Gail's husband (didn't he rape her?) because he felt the relationship between Monica and Gail lacked definition.
