While the old GH was not action packed like today's version of the program, one thing that the old version had was a very close relationship between all the characters in one form or another. Perhaps today's version mirrors how disconnected we are from each other in today's society. Regardless, I am hoping that the new version of GH takes a cue from the old, and returns to the closer relationship model between its characters. These are from the show's first year, 1963. Monday, April 7, 1963: Dr. Steve Hardy removes the bandages from Angie’s accident-scarred face. Tuesday, April 8, 1963: Dr. Brewer threatens to leave the hospital for general practice. Monday, April 29, 1963: Dr. Steve Hardy is on duty when a dangerously ill teen-ager is admitted. Tuesday, April 30, 1963: Jessie asks her husband, Dr. Brewer, if Cynthia knows he is married. Wednesday, May 1, 1963: Roger’s condition worsens and Dr. Hardy discusses his worries about his patient with Peggy. Thursday, May 2, 1963: Angie is offered a drink, her first, by a worldly character in an attempt to calm her. Friday, May 3, 1963: Dr. Hardy tells Mrs. Peterson about her son’s condition. Monday, May 6, 1963: Angie is agog with excitement, anticipating a call from her boyfriend Eddie. Tuesday, May 7, 1963: Dr. Brewer answers an emergency and learns from Jessie that a new patient has taken an overdose of sleeping pills. Wednesday, May 8, 1963: Dr. Hardy asks Dr. Brewer why the new patient did not take insulin. Thursday, May 9, 1963: Dr. Brewer gets a call concerning a new job as medical assistant for which he has applied. Friday, May 10, 1963: Angie tells Dr. Hardy she is worried about Eddie.
