(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — New York City-based ABC entertainment will help “All My Children” say goodbye to the city that it has called home for four decades.

As previously reported, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos will be returning to “All My Children” for a couple of episodes coinciding with the soaps 40th Anniversary in January - but it was actually the soaps move to Los Angeles that set the casting coup in motion. “Live with Regis and Kelly” Executive Producer Michael Gelman suggested that the former “AMC” starlet, Ripa, return to the soap to do a good-bye to New York piece. Look for the segment, chock full of behind the scenes footage, to air on the November 20 edition of “Live with Regis and Kelly.” Ripa and Consuelos returned to the New York-based “AMC” studio to tape on Monday, November 16.

You have to hand it to ABC. They are a marketing machine. This move could easily have gone unnoticed after the initial announcement and remained under the radar. Instead, they're generating some buzz and media attention.

...and lots of negative viewer speculation about their remaining NYC soap.

MYC bids goodbye to AMC and it seems that Australia will be saying hi to AMC next year.

I did attend this taping today. They didn't make us sign anything (unlike RR) so I don't think posting about it should be problem. If you don't want to be spoiled about the the Friday, December 11 "The View" stop reading now:

- Agnes Nixon was there. A lot of Agnes in video and live. It was great hearing her talk about the show. She's frail but she still has a strong voice. She talked about Erica, Jesse/Angie, social issue stories. Live she talked a lot about Erica (described her as "endlessly needy" in relationship to how intensly Erica needs men to love her, lol, the abandonment issues). They asked her is there a character that she's anything like. She mentioned she grew up without a father (Erica too). Her house in Maryland is named Pine something therefore the name Pine Valley. She talked about the controversy over Erica's abortion back in the day. She was positive about the move to L.A.

- Susan Lucci (she seemed a little emotional as she stated NY is her home, that was sweet), Vincent Irizarry (he mentioned something about reaccessing the issue in the summer), and Debbie Morgan (she likes her job but loves her husband) all said they're commuting back and forth from L.A to NY. Michael E. Knight seemed the most cool with the move, he said most of his family is located in the West Coast.

They brought out Susan (the NY talk, Erica's marriages), Debbie (she reflected that AMC has probably made her the most televised black woman), Rebecca (she found catfight scenes the most fun and memorable cue a clip of a Kenlee wedding dress fight) for interviews. Then they brought out Cameron (he's been on the View 16 times and they were showing clips), Michael (they asked him who he wants to be paired with and he said anybody, he's desperate, hah. Cameron got nervous. Sherri mentioned Liza and Erica for Tad), Vincent (I forget, but he's handsome ... oh he talked about the traveling for Y&R and now AMC) for interviews.

- They did a really funny segment that tied into the mystery guest. It was very funny. So I'll leave it at that so you all can be pleasently surprised by it. Lucci was cussing up a storm in it, awesome.

- The special guest - a hint: The person is loaded.

OMG, this sounds awesome! I'm jealous. I'm confused about the mystery guest and why Lucci was cussing. Was she acting or was she really cussing?

Is it Donald Trump? Donald Trump and AMC don't go together. Is it Warren Buffet?

Acting. Hilarious segment with Sherri, Bill, Susan and several other actors. And in the end - the special guest.

Susan's Emmy was at the taping. It's so...shiny.

I'd say who it is, but they seem to want to keep it a mystery in that release.

OK, fair enough. Thanks for the report! :)

ETA: My guess about the skit is that La Lucci is packing up her dressing room and she realizes that her Emmy is misplaced and she goes around trying to find it?! That would be hilarious. I'll see if I'm right next Friday.

Ha ha, I was right, sort of. Someone jacked La Lucci's Emmy.
