I wonder how low did GH go and how far up Days went up. I also hope that OLTL and AMC went up a little.

I wonder how bad General Hospital's numbers are this week. With no stunts, I bet they fall yet again. Recycled stories and solving a crime no one cares about anymore will not keep viewers. Neither will sleaze in the afternoon. When will they learn Soap Opera writing 101?

I'll be pleasantly surprised if Days adds even more viewers this week, but I'm not holding my breath. After so many weeks of gains, it seems more than likely that they will take a dip this week, but not a serious one. If they maintain (or manage to increase), then taking the #2 spot will be nearly inevitable in the next few weeks.

I thought DAYS would fall too....but they actually gained a few thousand! Not only that but 4/5 days were above 3 million! Very impressive.

Great week for soaps in total viewers - all soaps went up.

Huge week for Y&R! Up to 5.3 million. Monday's holiday was big for Y&R and B&B. Y&R got 5.8 million and B&B got 3.8 million. The potential viewers for Y&R are still out there.

DAMN, whenever Y&R goes up, B&B goes up. I want DAYS to be at #2 so desperately, well when Eric leaves Y&R, the ratings will go down.

Wow, then I'm shocked! 4/5 of 3M is great news for Days. Completely forgot about the holiday, too. 5.8 million for Y&R on Monday is crazy good. Maybe we'll be seeing some good ratings this winter.

Speaking of Days and viewership:

Just-released interview with Peter Reckell from the Associated Press about daytime, viewership, and playing Bo Brady.

"Longtime 'Days of Our Lives' actor Peter Reckell dishes on playing Bo Brady, fans and the changing soap industry. (Oct. 22)"

DAMN Y&R. The viewers may be there now, but those numbers will begin to fall.

SO HAPPY FOR DAYS!!!!!!!

I don't even remember what happened on Y&R last week to get a ratings increase.

I'm glad DAYS hasn't gone back down yet. Usually they do when they have a big jump.

I wonder if all the ABC soaps are still stalled in the same spot.

A spike in Monday's ratings would be a good argument against ABC's practice of showing reruns on major holidays. I've never understood that.

While I understand (and agree) with what you're saying, I don't know if Columbus Day would be a good example, since a lot of people are at work/school on that day. It is not one of the big holidays like Memorial, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's. A spike in the ratings for one of those holidays might be a better argument. But other than that, ITA.

But that's what I mean. If the viewership rises significantly on what is essentially a bank holiday then I think it's fair to assume it would at least remain steady on many of the other holidays. Not Thanksgiving or Christmas but definitely Labor Day and New Year's.
