(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — According to the Soap Whisperer, a new addition to the Soap Opera Network family, we can confirm that actor John Brotherton has been let go by ABC's "One Life to Live" in the role of Jared Banks after two years on the soap.

Brotherton joined the cast in August 2007 and has since enjoyed a dysfunctional relationship with Natalie Buchanan (portrayed by Melissa Archer). The two were married in May 2009 in a private ceremony. Brotherton is expected to air into the fall.

Prior to joining the "One Life" cast, the actor appeared in an episode of the cancelled CW television series "The Game" in 2006.

In 2009, he will have appeared in three films including "Gone," "Surprise, Surprise" and "Taken by Force." He starred in, directed, wrote and produced the 2007 short "Smith and Mike on a Tuesday."

"One Life to Live" airs Weekdays on ABC. Weeknights on SOAPnet. Check local listings.

Despite those fleeting later stints, Melinda basically got left back in the early 80s. If they bring her back, then I'd almost expect to see Larry and Dan Wolek show up to support Viki's campaign.

I would LOVE for them to bring Michael Storm back as Dr. Larry Wolek.

The way I see it, if RC can bring back characters like Pamela Stuart and Lee Halpern, then by hell he could bring back Larry too. That's just my two cents.

Here's my question. Exactly where is OLTL getting all the money to pay for all these returns, plus their ever increasing contract/recurring/dayplayer cast? I doubt dumping John Brotherton would free up that much cash.

Well Cassie is only back for a couple of episodes. And it's already been announced that Kevin is briefly returning this fall as well. And I'm not sure about Joey. I wish they would bring him back too though.

JB may be just the start as we were speculating. We could see several minor characters exit over the next couple months. It does help OLTL that most of the returns are short term.

Tell Errol that he might be getting scooped so to hurry up and post it soon. I saw it on another board.

It's already been posted. It goes to the SON website first. Then it takes the system a little while to post it on the message boards and Twitter.

True....Cassie, Kevin, Andrew, Marcie, and Michael are all only returning for a few episodes each.

But still, they have a rather large cast, and one would think that the cuts would have to come from some where. It makes me think that the axe fall on someone else down the road.

Someone, probably Frons, has been sitting on any storyline for Jared and Natalie for a year now. He also killed a storyline for Charlie/Viki, right?

So are we going to have Natalie try to stalk John? Or is she going to try to steal Brody from Jessica?

The show's main priorities are John, Todd, and Stacy/Rex/Gigi. Then I guess Starr, Cole. Bo, Nora, Dorian, Jessica, Natalie, and Viki I assume are safe. Unless Susan Haskell wants out I think they will keep Marty for the time being, just to save face on a badly botched return.

The "others" would be Brody, Kyle, Fish, Marrko, Langston, Layla, Christian, Clint, Rachel, Shaun, Greg. I guess Fish, Shaun, and Clint are on recurring? I don't know if that would make them more or less likely to go. I'm sure any non-white, non-young, or non-heterosexual characters must make Frons wilt. I guess Renee, Nigel, and Moe and Noelle are so minor at this point that writing them out wouldn't make a big budget difference. They may keep Brody because he is a good love interest for Jessica. Stalwart and a good contrast for her personality. If not for that he may go, as he is a potential threat to the Frons favorites.

I also wonder about Schuyler, as he is a potential threat to Rex and we can't have that.

I wonder if FL is staying when her contract is up. They also seem to be phasing Blair out.

Anyway, back on topic, I thought John Brotherton was a very understated actor who had sparkling chemistry with Melissa Archer. They could have been the light adventure couple you don't get on soaps anymore. Instead it's angst and brooding all the time, and a show where the leading men are almost entirely made up of pathetic, pouting little boys.

I hope they don't kill off Jared. Maybe Jeff Branson(ex-Jonathan Lavery, AMC, ex-Shayne Lewis, GL) could take over the part.
