ABC Previews Independence Day

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) -- As America celebrates its independence next month with cookouts, fireworks, and family vacations, ABC Daytime isn't letting the fact that the 4th of July falls on a Saturday this year keeping them from airing encore episodes of your favorite daytime dramas.

What exactly is the point in that?

The only thing that I can figure out is that they must think that since the 4th is on a Saturday this year, that most people will take off Friday as well, to make it a long weekend. With vacations, cookouts, and other outdoor activites, the ratings would likely be rather low for a new episode, so it's just easier to air a repeat. That's just my thinking though.

This has got to be about saving money in some way. ABC must think that less people will be watching on Friday. Their soaps could have done 4th of July episodes with family picnics and cooking outs, but not this network.

It would have been cool if OLTL had done another special like Trading Places or Babes Behind Bars, those were good specials for the 4th of July.
