As always, I love when you do this!

This was one of three roles that Lillian Chauvin (sp?) would play on the show. First, as above, was Pierre's evil sister. Second, in a one-day part, she played "Natalie Minard", who knew something about Brent Davis (the tennis pro and Ashley's biological father). Finally, she played one of Kay's two hostage takers (along with Morey Amsterdam). There, her name was "Lil".

So it began.

Of course, eventually she became a nun....so she and Greg were always thwarted in their love. Was she related to Mitchell Sherman somehow???

I guess this interference from Lorie was the proximal cause of driving Leslie insane and into the sanitarium?

I had no idea Pierre died so early on Y&R. The actor (Robert Clary?) played the part of restaurant owner Pierre on B&B in 1990-91 and he was part of the early Eric-Brooke romance. I always thought that B&B's Pierre was the same as Y&R's.

Did Sally leave the show with her son after Pierre's death? Did she have any other storylines? I have seen an early 80's clip with Snapper, Sally and Chuckie. Have they been in town all this time or did they return briefly?

Was Leslie Brooks the Ashley Abbott of the 70's with all these nervous breakdowns? :P

Jill has been hated by several groups of stepdaughters; the Brooks, Abbott and Dennison girls :) The Kay/Phillip/Jill triangle was modeled after ATWT's Lisa/Michael/Claire and DAYS's Julie/Bob/Phyllis also written by Bill Bell, right?

How did DePriest go from co-writing a feminist soap to terrorizing and murdering countless women (and writing a story about women being killed if they lived with a man or had sex with a man outside of marriage) on AW in 1986 and 1996?

Why was Robert Cenedella writing for the Doctors and GL, two different soaps owned by different people on different networks? I didn't know that was possible. Was he the one Harding Lemay considered to be a poor headwriter at AW (he had the story about Rue Maclanahan putting little bits of poison into Pat's food each day)?

I didn't realize the Dobsons were at GH then. Was their work very popular?

I would have liked to have seen some of GL or OLTL from that time.

Oh, wow! I always assumed it was the first order...I wonder if the Cassata book has this? I'll check tonight if no one else knows.

Going by birth years of the actresses (which means nothing):

Jaime Lyn Bauer: 1949

Janice Lynde: 1948

Victoria Mallory: 1949

Trish Stewart: 1946

Lynn Richter/Lynn Topping: 1949

Pamela Peters Solow: 19??

So, I'm shocked Trish Stewart was actually the oldest. Since Chris was the "virgin" who was considered too young to marry Snapper in the beginning, I always assumed she was younger than Leslie. Let's hope we get to the bottom of this :).

Sally did leave for awhile taking Chuckie with her. She returned years later when Chuckie got sick. Snapper was his doctor. Of course it stirred up Chris' jealousy.

But she soon left town again with Chuckie in tow.

***************************

Leslie was the oldest sister. She was 1st born. Lorie was 2nd in order and always felt she lived in her sister's shadow - thus the title of her first book In My Sister's Shadow.

Leslie was always sickly or at least required a lot of her parents time and thus they doted on her esp. Stuart. At least that is how Lorie saw it.

******************************

Back then writers could write for shows in different networks that were owned by different companies too. It didn't happen often but it did happen some. At one time Roy Winsor worked for his own company and for P&G. Henry Slesar wrote for shows on 2 networks but both were owned by P&G.

Irna Phillips worked with Screen Gems/Sony to create Days while she principally wrote for P&G. Days was on NBC and the majority of her other shows were on CBS.

********************************

I know that the Dobsons are given credit as HeadWriters on GH from 1973 to 1975. I am not sure that they really wrote the show for most of that time. When GH was given it's nomination for Best Writing at the DAytime Emmys in 1974, the episode submitted had the Hursley's still listed as HW with Bridget Dobson as a scriptwriter. Jerome Dobson was not listed.

GH was still good during this time, but it was really losing ground. The Dobson's basically continued the formula that her parents had started on the show focusing mainly on the two main couples: Steve & Audrey & Phil & Jessie. Their biggest story was the demise of Phil and as classic with the Dobsons - a rape. They had Phil rape Diana Maynard Taylor. Phil ended up dead and both Jessie and Diana were suspects. It ended up being another nurse that Phil was having an affair with or had an affair with Augusta McLeod - played by Judith McConnell in her first soap role. She was very good.

Margaret DePriest is another of those writers who went to work for Gloria Monty and came out a totally different writer. I felt from the 70's on back DePriest was one of the best writers in daytime. But when she showed up with Pat Falken Smith on Days in the 1980's, my opinion of her forever changed. I just never was impressed with her at all.

It's the same way I felt about Pat Falken Smith. I loved her on Days in the 70's and on back, but I just felt like when she came back to Days after working on GH the writer she once was was no longer there.

She was awesome. Wasn't she pregnant behind bars?

Great summary of Phil's arc here.

I remembered that Heather Webber killed Diana's husband, Dr. Peter Taylor. But is that true? Here's what one website says... (These were some of my all-time favorite stories on GH).
