Now this wasn't in the article itself, but right below in the comments - did they really fire these two over the phone? It's bad enough we've got to see them go at all, but an 'in person' explanation would have been the best route for these two vets - assuming that's how it really happened, again it was listed below in the comments and I gotta take those with a grain of salt.

What about Hall as Nikki Newman's sister,Dr. Casey Reed?
Maybe Hogestyn as a new character that interacts with Nikki and Casey. Or as P.I friend of Paul's?
OR (LOL) a new Snapper Foster,LOL!

It wouldn't be the first time a show would take an established couple from another show and bring them to their show.
Y&R is on a roll right now and that would be extra publicity.

Of course,Corday Productions has an interest in Y&R so I really don't see that happening!

I'd love to see Deidre go to primetime and do a comedy, because she's so funny. As a sarcastic character would be preferable.

They were (at least Deidre) fired over the phone, yes. From what I could gather from Deidre's chat (that are on the website), he told her the show was renewed and she was fired during the same phone call.

he called her told thhem they were renewed but they were not picking up her contract which did expire in Jan. She filmed her last scene and cleaned out her dressing room and left. she has no plans to return to DAYS but has a few other projects being considered and she will let us know when they happen.

Dee has been the face of DAYS for decades and has been their bread and butter as well. Whenever she has been front burner, ratings have skyrocketed! I know some people don't like her and thinks she can't act (of which I disagree with), you can't deny how much of an asset she has been to DAYS. I was so angry and upset at first when I heard that she was fired (especially over the phone...that's just low!!!), I am glad she is moving on. I hope she never goes back to DAYS. I hope she lands another gig somewhere else and finally gets the respect that she deserves!!!! Dee, we love you and wish you the best!

ITA - I know the axe must swing sometimes, but there was surely a better way to break the news considering she's been a landmark on that show. Hope for all the best for DH and DH

you guys should watch her video on her website there is a question that asks would you ever go back to days and would you go back w/o drake. she just ignores it and goes on...she is hurt, but she understands its buisness and that she loves daytime but she doesnt think there is a medium there anymore for it.
