Soap Opera Network has just learned that actors Brandon Beemer and Martha Madison, who portray the popular roles of Shawn D. Brady and Belle Black-Brady, have been let go from NBC's "Days of our Lives."

According to sources, "Belle" and "Shawn" will be written out of the show due to storyline purposes. Madison and Beemer will continue to tape episodes for approximately another month.

Ultimately, Corday and Ed Scott had to sign off on this, since they're the ones controlling the entire creative and financial aspect of this show. The scabs aren't to blame at all...

I also have to say, Steve and Kayla should've gone before Shawn and Belle. I'm sorry, at their peak they might have been the most popular DAYS supercouple, but their return was a huge bust and they mean nothing to the majority of DAYS fans who started watching in the 90's. That alone, along with getting rid of some of the teens and Nadia Bjorlin would've saved some money.

Okay, so, what was the purpose of the Shawn/Belle/Philip/Chloe quadrangle again?

You know, I can't pretend I dislike hearing/reading this news, since I'm not a Shawn or Belle fan. But, even I know the two have their legions of fans. Of all the characters to let go, why these two? Surely, there were other, more "worthy" candidates?

All in all, just another inexplicable move on the part of an increasingly inexplicable show.

Yeah, I don't understand getting rid of Martha at this point. I have never minded Brandon as Shawn but I could see them writing him off if they were to go ahead with Philip/Belle. The Quad is one of the best things on this show right now. This makes no sense. No Sense at all. 1 step forward 5000 steps back yet again at DAYS.

Oh, no you won't! I've seen what GH does to its' characters. Frankly, I think Martha's better off as a corpse-of-the-week on "C.S.I.: Miami."

Meanwhile, between this and the John redeux, does anyone get the impression that Corday and/or Scott is taking advantage of the WGA strike to undo alot of what Hogan Sheffer has tried to do for the show?
