What do you all say, i must admit i think almost all of the actors who have had their face worked on many times, are getting worse as actors, they have no emotions or cant act at all, Jackie Zeman who where a great actress, has had to much done, to act soon, the same with Lauren Koslow, Renee Jones, Deidre Hall, Susan Lucci, they cant show an inch in their face like naturally talents like Susan Flannery, what do you all here think, does plastic surgery affect abbility to act on soapoperas?...

Well aside from her nose, chest and eyes Jackie Zeman's look is courtesy of Botox and Restylane. I'm one of the minority who actually think that she still looks pretty good. I think when people are surprised by her look it is because she's just had something injected.

Lauren Koslow and Renee Jones, in my opinion, have not had much, if any plastic surgery. Just some Botox and Restylane and quite conservative use at that. They don't look 'done' they just look like they always have: gorgeous.

Deidre Hall's plastic surgeon should get the Nobel Prize, she looks wonderful.

Susan Lucci also looks great, but should give it a rest, she'll look a bit severe if she keeps at it.

Leslie Charleson, who I love, I think had a bad facelift. She looks a bit pulled.

Jeanne Cooper is the definitive example of soap opera plastic surgery, it was wonderful for her and her acting never suffered.

I only think plastic surgery or cosmetic dermatology hurts an actress if it is overdone and drastic. That being said, if the actress is game for it, she can make the transformation work in her favour by working it into the storyline.

I remember when Susan Lucci came back from her... "vacation..." during the whole Desiree Dubois storyline, and Erica was crying over her father's coffin, it was sooooo distracting because her face looked "renewed" and tight and shiney and soooo totally incapable of emoting beyond a mere wince, if even THAT.

I enjoy seeing clips of Susan pre-"facial renewal" as Erica. I heard that she even wondered if she were going to get the Erica part back when she auditioned because she feared she looked too "ethnic" for the role, but that's what I enjoy immensely about her look back in the 70's and 80's. The dark hair and the bold strong features is what made her beautiful. That look, to me, was Erica Kane. But, over the last seven years or so, she's slowly chisled away at that look.

It's funny. I think Alicia Minshew and Eden Riegel are perfectly cast as Erica's daughters, because Eden looks like a pre-"renewed" Lucci, and Lish looks like a young post-"renewed" Lucci.

Plastic surgery is a major risk for an actress, but one which many seem game to take.

Jackie Zeman, has, I think, had the very worst procedures. Her breasts look botched, and her lips look duck-like. However, I actually think she has more facial mobility than most of the others on the list. I don't think the "work" has particularly affected her acting.

Conversely, Deidre Hall looks absolutely incredible. The woman looks at least fifteen years younger than she is. I've never seen a woman of sixty who looks that good. HOWEVER, I do think it's affected her acting. She doesn't seem to be able to open her eyes all the way.

Leslie Charleson's facelift/botox looks painful, and I think it's affected her facial mobility very much. It looks laborious for her to open and close her eyes.

I don't mind Susan Lucci's work in the least. It seems very in character, actually. And acting has never really been what she's known for. I don't think she shouldn't go any farther, though.

I also think Robin Strasser has had something. The woman has no wrinkles, and at her age, that isn't really possible. I don't think it has affected her acting, though.

I don't think there is an actress or actor over 50 in a lead role who hasn't had some sort of work done.

It is more obvious on some than others-maybe some people have better skin to start off with,or just better doctors.

When Drake,Deidre and Thaao were asked on the Australian interview how they kept so youthful.by an audience member.there was a slight pause before Drake jumped in with the old healthy living, gym, positive attitude line!!

Kim Zimmer admitted to a face lift in the 90's. as did Jennifer Bassey I think.

Josh Taylor and Robert Woods have obviously had work done.

Erica Slezak,Suzanne Rogers,Tina Sloan,Lesley Ann Down,Jess Walton,Colleen Zenk and many others are all well over 50 and practically wrinkle free.

I think younger performers in their 30's and 40's are also having 'preventative' work down.

I think ,in many ways,it mirrors what is happening in society. There seem to be these clinics on every corner, yet no-one admits to using them.

Whether you agree or not is another issue!

I can't believe Hunter Tylo hasn't been mentioned yet in this thread! The WORST case of plastic surgery on Daytime!!!

I think her acting is just fine, but in some cases her new look certainly detracts from the show if you remember what a beauty she was before she had any work done.

 I totally agree with this. I can't believe how unnatural she looks. She seriously looks like a burnt victim that's had major reconstructive surgery to look half-way normal again.

It's all about getting work done gradually over time. Deidre Hall looks amazing. Even up close in person, she looks fabulous.

I remember a scene when Bobbie Eakes was doing a really emotional scene with David Canary after the Jenny kidnapping hullabaloo. She was trying to show emotion on her face, but the botox was clearly holding her back. I was moved by their scenes, but her cosmetic surgery was distracting (had she not had anything done, I would've been totally vested in the scene).

My mom also commented on Susan Lucci the other day. She was soo distracted by her neck (it was all wrinkled, while her face was all tight). The contast was too striking (same for Leslie Charleson, really). Jackie Zeman's lips are distracting. Personally, I think if they put on 5-10 pounds, it might help fill out their face, and they wouldn't need botox or a facelift (but weight is another topic).

When I think about it, any time an actor has had work done, you can totally tell anytime they have to emote beyond a smirk--because they can't even use the muscles in their forehead. It's like straining to show us what should come naturally.
