BREAKING NEWS: Marston's 'One Life' is No More
To update a story Soap Opera Network first broke late last month, a spokesperson for "One Life to Live" has confirmed that Nathaniel Marston has been fired from the ABC soap following a run-in with the law on October 20th. The move comes only two weeks after ABC announced that Marston was being pulled from the "OLTL" taping schedule while the network reviewed the incident.

According to a statement just released by ABC, "Nathaniel Marston has been a valuable member of the cast of "One Life to Live" bringing Michael McBain to life for legions of fans. He leaves the show with our sincere appreciation for his many contributions and our support as he addresses personal challenges. We wish him well."

A source close to "OLTL" says the role will likely be recast very shortly, with the writer's strike making a last-minute rewrite to explain the character's exit improbable. This marks the second time Marston has been fired from "OLTL." His 2003 firing prompted a huge fan backlash, resulting in the network brass re-hiring him. I feel ssorry for his family but the show had no choice. If they kept him and he hurt a member of the cast or crew it would have cost ABC millions.

I pretty much knew where this was going. He was a liability to the cast and crew and, like South said, could have cost ABC millions.

I do wish him luck and hope he gets the help he needs.

I'm upset that he's leaving, because I like him... but I'm not all that surprised. I'm a bit surprised that they will recast him though, there must be more (and something good) planned for the character then.

I hope Nathaniel gets the help he needs. No one deserves to lose their job, but under these circumstances, it was needed. I hope he uses this time to get the help he needs not only for his family, but for himself.

Only thing ABC could do. He's def. a great actor, I hope he gets everything together and gets well and all that. I enjoyed his portrayal as Michael, and even Al back in the day.

I liked Nathaniel Marston,especically as Al Holden. He's a good actor and a troubled individual. I believe he's bipolar and needs serious help for that serious condition and also needs treatment for his addiction to drugs.

It's weird, I heard this news on 1010 WINS this morning. It was a feature news story. It was weird hearing a soap opera related story on 1010 WINS. The show is not letting Michael go and will recast (it was weird hearing them say that too!). Poor Martson. In the news and not in a good way.
