BREAKING NEWS: Annamarie Kostura Fired From NBC
Soap Opera Network has learned that Annamarie Kostura has been fired by NBC. As Vice President, Daytime Programs, Kostura was responsible for overseeing the creative content of NBC's hit daytime dramas "Days of our Lives" and "Passions." She was promoted to the top daytime position in December 2005.

Kostura joined NBC in 1990 as Director, Daytime Programs and Casting. In 1995, she was quickly promoted to Vice President, Daytime Programs and Casting. During this time, Kostura assisted in the launches of "Sunset Beach" and "Passions" serving as the network executive responsible for both programs.

Before coming to NBC, Kostura served as a casting director for ABC Television on the daytime drama "One Life to Live" from 1980-89. Kostura is a graduate of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater. Kostura is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

With NBC down to one daytime drama, there isn't likely to be a replacement.

Stay tuned to SON for more information.

What does this mean?

It's not good.......

If there's no replacement (which is what I'm hearing right now), it doesn't bode well for the future of DAYS. It's like NBC saying, "We don't need that position anymore." sad.gif

Horrible news for Days, but not like Kostura had much say if Days was going to continue or not. Unless Jeff Zucker is gone, Days will continue its journey to cancellation in 2009.

Hmm, there appears to be speculation that someone by the name of Steven O’Neill will take over Kostura's position.

Oh, apparently this has to do something with casting. Was Kostura invovled with casting for Days and Passions too, even though both shows have casting directors?

No, Silverman replaced Kevin Reilly at NBC. Zucker is in charge of overseeing all of NBC-Universal.

^He replaced Kevin Reilly, not Zucker! LOL!

Zucker is still the boss at NBC/Universal.

Not good for Days but it doesn't seem like anything is these days.

I guess if someone is put in the position it bodes well because it shows they find a need to keep it but who knows.

Very true PR05 It seems the shipped has sailed. Days can't catch a break. I do believe we are seeing the show on its last legs. It's scary as hell at least for me it is, growing up with this show and to see it fighting for its life. Really sad. How did it ever come to this?

Thanks for the info. If you think its bad Toups then I guess it must be!

Nevertheless DAYS hasn't done anything to fix itself in over a year-- so the network has no reason to drop the axe. No show in letting the show drag on painfully.

I think this is simply NBCīs reaction at Passions end. They donīt need an entire daytime subdivision anymore if they donīt own any daytime show they can control.
