I have been waiting for the bottom to drop out of OLTL, and it sure has. nearly 300,000 viewers? WOW.

GH and AMC are not faring that much better, but still. Wow.

I think all 3 shows need some real refocusing, changes that go beyond HD and lighting.

And only a lousy .2 over a show that has just been cancelled because of it demos.

GH is holding its 1.3. Which makes me ill.

Y&R bottomed out ... precipitously ... a year ago. That was the disastrous MAB/Griffith era. Fortunately, they have stabilized in the year since. The question is how long this plateau can last.

The other miracle is Days. That one...well...I think it proves that many of my assumptions about what makes a successful soap opera are false.

See this is exactly where AMC and GH should be, but AMC should be even lower. These tacky ass storylines of Pratt & Guza are having the fans tune out in droves. Let's hope they keep falling until someone other than Frons steps in to fix this mess.

I know we can't beat a dead horse and that GL has been cancelled, but they really aren't that much lower than other, more expensive shows. Yes, I know demos all play into it as well and GL has horrible demos, but it's very obvious that this coming year, after GL is gone, I think you'll see the remaining shows sink down to the level that GL is at now. And with their budgets much higher than GL's, there will be no choice but to cut the remaining shows budgets even further, which will compromise the quality and make the shows fall even further. It's a viscious circle.

I also think that you will see other shows, ATWT in particular, adapt some of the 'look' that GL has. There will be no choice because the viewers are tuning out, decreasing ad revenue and thus decreasing budgets. If you look at this week's ratings, GL had more viewers on Wednesday than GH had on Thursday. This doesn't bode well for the shows that will be on the air after GL signs off.

That's really bad for OLTL. It kind of bears out what I've been saying about the ratings lagging audience approval or acceptance by a few weeks. And that doesn't bode well for the next few weeks. I fear the bottom is getting ready to fall out.
