(EXT: London, England- Edmund's Creepy Castle)
--Ashton sits in the living room, on the phone, and learns of Eden, Kirk, and Pearl's impending arrivals. He smiles and says that it's time that everything be put in place so he, Kelly, and everyone else can live "happily" ever after. Kelly enters the room, able to catch the last part of his sentence, and he hurries off the phone.
"Happily ever after huh? I thought that was already decided on our wedding day, Mr. Lavery."
"Oh, it was, it was, Mrs. Lavery. I just got some news that should delight you and perhaps give you some pleasure during your downtime on our extended stay here in London. I'm sure you're about tired of my father, Christine, and all the construction on the East Wing by now."
"Actually, I find your father quite fascinating. A bit mysterious, but he never ceases to hold my interest. So......what is this happy news that is supposed to bring me such delight?"
"Your sister is actually on your father's jet, on her way to London right now. I've invited her....and her friends to stay here with us. At the castle."
"Oh? And what friends are you talking about? Julia? Mary?"
"Actually, they're both men. Pearl Bradford, that old friend of yours and my #1 fan, and Kirk Cranston."
"KIRK CRANSTON? Eden is coming HERE.....with Kirk Cranston? What the hell would possess her to bring that man here....let alone on daddy's jet?"
"I sense there's some sort of history there."
"Oh, not much. Just that they were married years ago. And he attempted to kill her. Multiple times. And gaslight her. And kidnapped her...and Cruz....again, multiple times."
"Doesn't sound like the ideal travel companion."
"My point exactly. It's all so strange. Why would Eden leave her children, Cruz's parents, and daddy, to come to London with Kirk Cranston, of all people?"
"Sounds like you'll have plenty to discuss over dinner tonight. They should be arriving before then and I've asked Christine to prepare a special meal for all of us....and our guests."
"Guests?" Edmund says, entering the room.
"Yes, father, guests. Kelly's sister, Eden, and a couple of her friends will be arriving later. I hope you don't mind that I've taken the liberty of inviting them to stay here. I figure there's plenty of room for everyone. It is a CASTLE, after all."
"Kelly, would you be so kind as to give my son and I a moment alone?"
"Of course. Obviously my husband here should have discussed this with you first. You've been very gracious to let us stay here as long as you have. I hope you don't feel too put out that Ashton here has invited my sister and her.....friends to stay. He's just trying to make me happy is all, as he always does. I'll go and get a cup of tea from Christine in the kitchen. Would either of you like anything?"
"Nothing at all my dear, the privacy will be quite enough."
Kelly exits the room, muttering to herself about Eden, Kirk, and :Pearl being the oddest of combinations. Back in the living room, Edmund glares at his son.
"Just what are you up to? It's been hard enough keeping Kelly away from her mother....now you've got her sister coming as well? Just what in the devil are you up to?"
"I suggest you listen and listen good. If you want this charade of a life that you've created for yourself and your pod in the East Wing to continue, you'll do everything that I ask of you tonight. Otherwise, I'll expose you to the Capwell girls, who will surely go running to daddy...."
"You wouldn't dare. You wouldn't risk your marriage to Kelly Capwell, that I know."
"You're right, I wouldn't. And you'll understand things as they unfold today. You just do exactly as I say or this whole thing will blow up in your face tonight father. Do I make myself clear?"
"Why you little.....just who do you think you are speaking to me this way? How dare you assume that I would go along with this, risk everything FOR...my God, if your mother were alive...."
"I thought she was. Upstairs. In her private bedroom. Isn't that the double entendre you're leading right now? You're just going to have to trust me for now father. As for now, I must be going. I have some business to attend to. Please, keep Kelly entertained while I'm gone. She seems to find you.....fascinating. If only she knew just how interesting the life you're really leading right now really is...."
Ashton exits and as he leaves, Edmund takes out his phone and dials Pamela.
"We've got trouble. Big trouble."
(EXT: Lionel and Augusta's London Flat)
--Augusta sits in her satin robe, staring at her husband across the breakfast table. Clearly uncomfortable, she attempts to break the ice.
"Well that went rather smoothly yesterday."
"Those aren't the words I'd use if I were you, Augusta. How dare you keep this from me for as long as you have. How dare you!"
"How dare I? After what that woman and your tawdry affairs with her have done to me over the years, you should consider yourself lucky I clued you in at all."
"Yes, lucky. I couldn't care less about Sophia and the last thing I want is for you to go waltzing down memory lane with her. But, I did the noble, unselfish thing and told you the truth. I thought you'd be rather proud of me."
"Yes, proud. What is with these one word inquisitions you're spitting at me? If I had my way, that woman would have stayed dead and buried where she belonged. Ironic, though, isn't it. Here we are, 34 years later, and it's 1979 all over again. Sophia is operating under a false name, with no previous recollection of her old life, Marcello is her only confidante....it's de ja vous. Only this time...well, I'm not quite sure I understand the logistics of it. She didn't fall off a yacht for pete's sake, she was pronounced dead. By Saint Mary Duvall of all people and there's no way Sister Mary would lie about this sort of thing. You have to give credit where credit is due....Edmund has pulled off quite the caper here. I think you'd rather enjoy his torturing of CC, if it didn't involve you're quintessential love, Sophia, that is. And here I am, allowing you to play hero to the tawdry slut you cheated on me with and created that.....circus performing son of your's with. And the only reason he's even alive is because your mother switched the babies all those years ago. Otherwise, Sophia would have shot your only child with her."
"Thank you, Augusta, for the refresher course and the lovely walk down memory lane. Well one thing is clear- I couldn't get through to her. And if I can't get through to her...there's only one other man who can....CC!"
"Lionel, have you gone mad? Did you not listen to the history course that Marcello gave you? CC has a past with Loretta as well as Sophia. His involvement could make this situation more chaotic than it already is and worsen Sophia's condition, which God knows is the lassst thing you'd want to do."
"He has a right to know that his wife is alive, Augusta. Whether I like him, hate him, respect him, or not, he loves her and is grieving for her. It isn't right that we keep this from him."
Augusta walks across the table and hits Lionel on the back of the head.
"Would you get your brain wired back in, Lionel? We need to put Sophia first here and involving CC is only going to cause a bigger mess than this already is. I suggest that we at least wait until we here from Marcello before we do anything rash. Where is that "dame" of a mother of yours when I need her to talk some sense into you? We at least need to wait until we hear from Marcello first. At the very least, he did put that tracking device in the suitcase, so we'll know- Sophi--Loretta's--oh whatever the hell that tramp is calling herself's whereabouts are at any given time. Patience, dear. I doubt this is the last we've heard from Marcello."
(EXT: Lady DuMonde's Mansion)
--Ashton is greeted at the door by the butler and requests to see Marcello at once. Marcello swiftly enters the room and wonders aloud what Ashton could want with him. Ashton suggests that they talk somewhere in private. He explains that he accidentally stumbled into Sophia's room and realizes what his father has done and wants to right the wrong. Marcello admits to a knowing Ashton that he already knows about Sophia and is trying to jog her memory. Ashton quizzically asks if anyone else knows and Marcello tells him only Lionel and Augusta.
"Doesn't Sophia have a history with the Lockridges?"
"A long one- she had a forbidden love affair with Lionel for a good portion of her life."
"Well couldn't you use that and your hypnosis techniques to kick start her memory?"
"I've already thought of that and I tried it yesterday, but Sophia and Augusta exchanged words and Loretta....Sophia got cold feet. She's truly convinced that she's your mother."
"My mother-in-law is brainwashed into believing she's my mother. Sounds like something out of a soap opera."
"You'd think so, but this has happened before, and the last time it did, it caused insurmountable, permanent damage to the Capwells, especially to Channing, Eden, and CC"
"Of course. Well, if I could get you in to see her again tonight, do you think you could get Lionel to come alone?"
"I'm not sure. Augusta can be a handful and she'll want to come but.... I can try."
"Try you will, if you want to bring Sophia back. And you will succeed. You seem a smart man, Marcello. I'm sure you can come up with a good reason to bring Lionel to the castle on his own. Here"
Ashton writes down his phone number.
"This is my cell number. You call me when you're on the way. Try to make it around 7:30, as we will all be at dinner at that time and it will be much easier to sneak you into the mansion."
"All of you?"
"Yes, my father, my wife, her sister..."
"Eden's going to be there?"
"Yes but she'll be at dinner. I haven't told Kelly or any of the Capwells about Sophia because.....well, because my wife has told me the sordid family history and I'd hate to put any of them through that again before Sophia realizes that she's....Sophia. I'm disgusted by what my father has done- it could damn well ruin my marriage and there's no way in hell I'm going to let that happen. You just follow my instructions and I'll make sure you're able to see Sophia. Now, I must be going, as my father will soon be wondering where I am. I was very careful not to be followed. I don't want him to have any idea that I know about this, nor that I'm helping you."
"I appreciate it Ashton You're doing a good thing."
"Yes well, I hope so and I do hope that everything goes as planned. Now as I said, I must be going."
Ashton sees himself out and immediately dials his phone.
"Ok, it's all set. I hope you're ready for everything that's about to happen."
The camera pans to a man in a suit, sitting in an office, without his face being shown.
A familiar, English accented voice is heard on the other line.
"Oh, I'm ready. I'm more than ready."
They hang up and the camera pans up to the mystery man.....
(THE END......For TODAY)
(The role of Joann Walsh is now being played by Maura West)
(EXT: Santa Barbara Airport)
--Kirk is stunned to see his former fiance standing behind him.
"Don't just stand there like a deer in the headlights, Kirk. Answer my question. Or would you rather I call Eden and the three of us can have this chat together?"
"Joann, my love, my pet, there is nothing for you to worry about. I have Eden under control and I need to get on this plane right now or everything that's been planned is going to blow up in our faces. Now if you don't mind, my love is waiting..."
Kirk turns around and begins to walk away, but Joann runs up behind him and snatches his phone out of his hand. Before Kirk can even react, Joann calls back the person who Kirk just got off the phone with. The phone rings twice and someone picks up.
"Kirk? Kirk? What do you want? I thought you said everything was going fine...."
"It is, it is. This is Laurie, Kirk's girlfriend and I was just wondering who my devilish boyfriend here was speaking with.......Do you have a name?"
"Of course. Santana. And trust me, I have no designs on your boyfriend. It was a business call. Completely business."
"I'm sure it was. He was just being his usual deceptive self and I wasn't about to let him get away with it. Lovely talking to you Santiana."
"Of course it is. Good bye now."
Kirk looks at Joann with a guilty look on his face. He asks for his phone back so he can board the plane.
Joann throws the phone and it hits Kirk directly in the eye.
"What the hell was that for?"
"You know damn well what it for. Castillo? Santana? So Cruz is alive. You've been LYING to me. And to Quinn. I don't think he'll be too pleased to hear that you didn't carry out his mission, and then you're little love-fest with the object of your obsession will all go down the drain, won't it."
"Cruz was never supposed to die, right pumpkin?"
"Don't you dare patronize me. Santana Andrade was never part of the plan and you know it. Haven't you learned not to double cross me Kirk? I thwarted your takeover of Capwell Enterprises. Did you really think you were gonna get away with this. I want answers and I want them now. Why in the HELL did you get Santana mixed up in this?"
"I didn't, my pet, I didn't. She happens to live in Mexico and Eden called her and she confronted Angel and she got the map and she...."
"And she saved her high school sweetheart. Well bully for Santana. I'm not even going to ask why you didn't tell me Kirk because I already know- you're a COWARD! Seriously, you have botched everything from day one and you honestly are being blackmailed by Santana Andrade? For God's sake, slip her a mickey and be done with it you fool. But no, no, because we all know not only are you cowardly, but you're selfish. All you care about is your precious Eden and getting her in your clutches. Who gives a damn who you screw over in the process? You go, Kirk. Go on to London with Princess Eden. But you're going to fix this. So help me GOD Kirk, when you get back to Santa Barbara, you WILL fix this. Or your leg won't be your only prosthetic body part!"
(EXT: Capwell Hotel)
--Ted catches Angela and begins slapping her and trying to wake her up. When she doesn't come to, he calls 911 and reports everything. When he's off the phone, he asks the receptionist if any doctors are staying in the hotel, to which she responds that she's not allowed to give out that sort of information.
"My father OWNS this hotel damnit! And this is my wife!"
"I'm sorry Mr. Capwell- I didn't recognize you. How embarrassing. And I've worked here since the 80s! ( )"
"Just can it and answer the question."
"No sir, at least none that are in the building. Is there anything I can do?"
"A glass of water, something, anything, just go do something."
A bewildered Ted continues to shake Angela, trying to get her to come to. Suddenly he hears a familiar voice.
"Ted. Ted, what's wrong?"
"It's Angela, Gina. She's fainted and so help me, if you've done anything, ANYTHING to harm my wife..."
"I swear to you Ted, I didn't. We were just having a.....conversation, that's all. I did notice she was acting a little weaker than normal, but I thought nothing of it."
"That I believe. You don't think Gina, do you? Clearly she was stressed out and I doubt your conversation had anything to do with those cheap denim jeans you're marketing."
"Those cheap jeans have become a major factor in keeping your father's company afloat, Ted. Lest you forget, that takeover attempt would have gone through much more swiftly had it not been for Gina Jeans. I saved that company Ted."
"I don't have time for this Gina. My wife is unconcious on the floor."
"I see that. And that is not my fault."
Suddenly, Angela comes to.
"Ted......Gina.....what just......why am I on the floor?"
"Not for the usual reason," Gina snarks.
"Shut up, Gina. Honey, you fainted. Just lie still. The paramedics are on the way. Where is that IDIOT with the water??!?"
"That's the kind of employees you people have working at this place, Ted. Kelly's too busy waltzing around Europe marrying strangers to run a business."
"Would you PLEASE make yourself useful for once Gina and get my wife a glass of water?"
Gina stands there, giving Ted her best insulted Gina face.
"Of course. I'm sure you'll be fine, Angela. You always seem to come out on top. I'm sure this will be no exception."
Gina goes to get the glass of water as the paramedics arrive. When Angela protests and says it was a dizzy spell and that she's fine, Ted insists she let the paramedics take her to the hospital and be checked out by a doctor. Angela softens when she sees the look of concern on Ted's face. The paramedics place Angela on the stretcher and put her into the ambulance as Gina returns with the water.
"What's going on? Where are they taking Angela?"
"Paris," Ted quips. "It's the paramedics Gina, where do you think she's going? Now can you please stay here and run the hotel while I tend to my wife?"
"Get my wife a glass of water. Run the hotel. Create a line of jeans that will shoot the stocks through the roof. Sure, Ted, run along. Lord knows you Capwells wouldn't understand hard work even if you had to build a house. You'd just find someone else to do all the work and-"
"Thanks Gina. You're a real life saver."
Ted leaves and a devious look comes across Gina's face. She pulls out her phone and places a call.
"Mom, where are you?"
"I'm here at the Capwell Hotel and the most delicious thing just happened."
"Yeah, what's that?"
"Angela Cassidy.......Capwell(she chokes on the word)......just fainted..."
"Really? Well....so what?"
"So what? She's been nauseated lately, dizzy, now she's fainting....."
"For God's sake, Lily, she's either got a brain tumor or she's PREGNANT! And I'd bet a million dollars on the latter...."
THE END......for today
Greg: Thanks so much for the compliment. I'm quite proud of my first two episodes. The hardest part about writing is getting started. But now that I have, I'm roaring to go!
SONBC: Tell us about Joann. She's been an enigma for some time now, mainly arguing with Gina and working for Capwell Enterprises. Yet on this last installment, she seems to be crossing into the Kirk storyline.
Greg: First of all, I'm THRILLED to finally have Maura West in the cast. She's a spectacular actress and while I like Kim Rhodes, I just couldn't resist changing it over to Maura for the story I have planned. Now as for her involvement with Kirk, they were once engaged, she used him to get into Capwell Enterprises, and then thwarted his takeover attempt. Now why she's doing what she did in the last episode, I can not tell you. It would spoil my fun. But what I will say is just WAIT and see what she does in the next episode. I think the fans are going to LOVE what I have planned for Joann. In fact, when I did a survey a while back, she was easily ranked as their favorite new character, yet she'd barely done anything but spar with Gina. I'm using that to garner her the sympathy she's going to need. But when all of her secrets, including her identity, are revealed, the audience will clearly understand the motivations she's had for everything that she's done.
SONBC: What about this Lockridge story you have planned, mirroring your own real-life 2012 drama?
Greg: I'm excited to start writing it, but it's going to take me a few weeks to get there. I think it will be an interesting, different kind of storyline for the Lockridges. And I have one more return planned that nobody is going to see coming, but that person will shake up the canvas for sure.
SONBC: I have to ask the question that's on everyone's mind- WHEN is the next episode airing?
Greg: I plan on writing it today, though it doesn't mean it will get finished. But expect to see it back.
SONBC: Any news about the talk show or interviewing more behind the scenes SB talent?
Greg: Nothing yet, but I'm CONVINCED that at least some of the cast and crew are reading it. That includes you Ms. Grahn. She's my likeliest suspect, but there's a few others I feel may be reading as well. I hope so. This blog is getting more notice on the net and they must know it exists. We're at 150,000 some odd hits and my goal is to hit 200,000 by May. With as much action as I have planned, it's well withing the realm of possibility.
SONBC: Thankis so much Greg for your usual candor and yet another entertaining interview. And don't miss "Return to Santa Barbara." Only on SONBC.
(EXT- The Capwell Hotel)
--Angela sits behind her desk, clutching her head in her hands and feeling nauseated. When she opens her eyes, she sees Ted standing there.
"Honey, you don't look so hot."
"And good morning to you too, Mr. Capwell. I'm just a little under the weather, that's all. With the amount of work I'm doing both here and at Capwell, that's to be expected. What brings my handsome husband by anyway? Something on your mind."
"Actually yes. The other day with Gina in fact. Something was going on there Angela, and I don't think it had anything to do with promoting Gina Jeans either."
Angela pauses for a moment, nervously staring back at her husband.
"Well? Am I right? Was she harrassing you? Because if she was, I'll...."
"Relax, Ted. I'm a big girl and I can certainly handle Gina Blake DeMont Capwell Capwell Capwell Timmons Lockridge."
"What was it that she was taunting you about?"
"Her daughter, what else? She still is reeling from the fact that you married me and not Lily, probably because it ruined any chances of Gina being a Capwell, Ted. Yes I know what I did wasn't.......I didn't go about it the right way. But I make no apologies for loving you. Or marrying you for that matter. You know Ted, I was married to David for a number of years and while I enjoyed the wealth and the prestige that went along with that, I was more in love with our status than him. Then there was Warren, who frankly, didn't have the capacity to love anyone but himself at the time. But when I met you......it was different. Sure at first, it was just sex..."
"Just sex? Fantastic, off the charts, hot, amazing sex, the best sex I've ever had in my-"
"Ok, ok, I see what you're getting that. And that's all I thought it was, honestly. My using you to fill the void I felt from Warren's inability to return my feelings. Frankly, I don't think I was ever in love with Warren, more the idea of him. But you. You were kind, gentle, caring, the kind of man I never felt I deserved in my life, especially after what happened to my sister Marilyn all those years ago, which I fully blamed myself for. You showed me what real love could be like, and yet I didn't think I deserved you, that you deserved better. Which is why I ended it and began dating your father. I knew he was one person I could be with that you wouldn't be able to stand to watch and I was right. But then I saw you dating Lily. And I could see how much she loved you and that you clearly cared about her. I wasn't in love with your father but I just wanted you to be happy. Or so I thought."
"Well yes, I thought. But then we'd be in a room together and I couldn't bare not to be with you. Then, when we were trapped in that explosion....I saw how gentle you were with me, how you assured me we were going to be alright. And I realized then that I was in love with you. Actually, when you'd fallen asleep, I told you so. And I realized that all these years, I'd been depriving myself of something wonderful, to be loved in a way I never thought I could because I didn't deserve it. I knew I had to let go of all of that and more importantly, I knew that you loved me and whether you cared for Lily or not, you were going to marry her out of a sense of obligation, the same reason I had married David and almost CC. I couldn't put you through that and I don't think I could have handled it. So yes, I did some nasty, underhanded things. Like seducing you. Like having Lily kidnapped and donning a wedding dress and stealing her wedding. But I did that out of love for you and sometimes in life, you have to fight for what you want, for what's right, even if you have to fight dirty. I wasn't going to deprive myself out of that kind of love any longer and there was no way I was going to let you deprive yourself either. And when you agreed to married me that day.....you made me the happiest woman I've ever been in my life. I love you Ted Capwell and I always will, no matter what happens. Please, don't ever doubt that."
"And don't doubt my love either Angela. I love you more that I thought I could love any woman, or would love any woman. Now come here because if I don't kiss you right now, I'm gonna burst."
Angela gets up from her desk and walks toward Ted. Just as she's about to walk into his arms, she faints and he catches her, shocked.
(EXT- Santa Barbara Airport)
---Kirk and Pearl sit patiently waiting for Eden to arrive. They see her walking toward them with an assistant and a half a dozen bags.
"Edie, what is this? Your entire closet?"
"A woman can never be too prepared. Besides, I brought a few disguises along with me, you know, for sleuthing?"
"Sleuthing? Man are you lucky Cruzzie ain't here right now because he'd..."
"What? Fight with me and try and prevent me from being involved in the investigation? And when did that ever work Pearl?"
"You did always have a knack for doin the exact opposite of what the police captain told ya to do, didn't ya?"
"He just didn't like it because I ended up being the one to crack his cases. You know I've never been one to shy away from danger. Speaking of, hello Kirk? Ready to be implicated in a crime we all know you had something to do with?"
"I've told you and I'll tell you again- I've changed my life, who I am. I just hope you'll soon be able to see that and realize that-"
"Spare me. Anyhow, daddy's jet is ready. Are we all set?"
"Sure are. Oh and I gave Kell a call and she and Ashton said they want us to stay in his father's castle. I figured having the support of your sister would help you keep a level head."
"Thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing Kelly. Her husband, on the other hand....."
"What? You have some kind of problem with this Ashton guy?"
"There's just something about him. He seemed a little to interested in my life. Mine and Cruz's. And Daddy clearly doesn't like him and he's always been a pretty good judge of character..."
"Edie, let me remind you- he approved of Kirkie here, he didn't like Cruz at first, he married Pamela, then Gina, he's let that Elizabeth woman walk all over him, he has illegitame children all over the world that keep popping up..."
"Yes, well, on this one, I think he may be right. This Ashton Lavery just seems to....perfect. I hope for Kelly's sake that I'm wrong because for all the trouble with men in her life, I'd like nothing more for her to find some happiness. With the RIGHT guy."
"Me too Edie. Me too."
Eden's phone rings and she's informed that the jet is ready for them to board. Before they get on the plane, Kirk's phone rings and says it's a call he has to take, if they'd just give him a moment.
"Make it fast, Kirk. Because I'd be more than happy to leave you behind. You could take your company's jet you know."
"It will be just a minute, I promise. Would you mind taking my bags Pearl?"
"Anything for you Kirkie"
Kirk walks away as they board the plane. He answers the phone and it's Santana on the other end.
"It's about time I heard from you. What the hell is going on with Castillo?"
"Relax Kirk, he had thought it was 1986 and that we're still married. But there is one problem."
"Oh, and what's that?"
"We need to make it legal. And the only way we can do that is if he divorces Eden. Now I can get Cruz to sign the papers, but how on Earth are you going to get Eden to sign them without her realizing what's going on."
"You just leave that to me. I'll have Eden in a position where she'll be more than ready to sign those papers very soon. Now I've got to go, but leave Eden to me. You just handle Castillo."
Kirk hangs up and begins walking toward the plane when someone grabs him and turns him around.
"Just what the hell do you think you're up to Kirk? And you better tell me the truth or so help me, I'll march right onto that plane and tell Eden everything I know. EVERYTHING!"
THE END........for today
(EXT: Cruz & Eden's Beach House)
---Eden finishes packing up her things and heads to the door. She opens it, surprised to find Julia standing there.
"Julia....What are you doing here?"
"I see I've come at a bad time. What is all this luggage Eden? You're not thinking of running out of town are you? I know this is hard for you Eden, I went through it once when I thought Mason was dead, but running away isn't the answer. Believe me. You're going to need the support of your friends and your family right now and---"
"Relax, Julia. I'm not running away, just taking a little trip, that's all. Daddy's jet is waiting at the airport for me and if I don't get a move on...."
"What? Your father's flight will leave without you? What's going on Eden? I know you, I see that look in your eye. You're up to something."
Eden explains that she has found out that Quinn Armitage is the one who set Cruz up and killed him, and that she's tracked him to London. So she's going to confront him and hopefully, bring him to justice once and for all. When Julia interjects that isn't something she should be doing alone, Eden tells her she's not. Kirk will be accompanying her.
"Over my dead body. There's no way in hell I'm letting you go anywhere alone with that man. Cruz would strike me down from-"
"Heaven? Funny, that's exactly what Pearl said, which is why he's insisting on coming with me. I'll be fine Julia, I promise, and Pearl will be there. Plus Kelly and Ashton are already in London, so I'll have plenty of support."
"I'd still like to come. You and Cruz are my best friends you know and I've been in this with you from the beginning. And don't even think of trying to talk me out of it."
"I wouldn't dare. But Julia....is this really about Cruz and me? Or are you the one that's running.......from my brother.....again...."
Julia explains that she can't help it. Just when she thinks things are going well with Mason, Mary comes up. Over and over and over again. She can't help but think that Mary is the true love of Mason's life and she will never to be able to measure up to that.
"Even if we do get back together Eden, how can I know that's there's not a part of him that wants to be with her? She was his first love, probably the love of his life. How do I compete with that? She's always going to be there, running into him, giving him those longing looks. You know she still loves him and I can see that part of him, a big part of him still loves her. I didn't marry Mason to share him with someone else. I want all of him. Heart, mind, body, and soul and I won't settle for any less than that."
"Then fight for him Julia. Fight for him. I had to fight for Cruz for years. Santana, Victoria Lane, Elena, Sandra Mills, the list goes on and on. But in the end it was worth it. We had 20 magical years together that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world for. And that man who took him away from me.....he's gonna pay. I'm gonna make sure of that. Life is too short Julia. We take so much for granted. Picking out our own clothes, being able to eat when we're hungry, being loved and loved back in a way we never dreamt we could. The kind of love that you and my brother share is worth fighting for. And the Julia Wainright I've always known has never backed down from a fight. Why start now?"
"How is it that you know just the right thing to say?"
"I learned from the greatest man I've ever known."
She looks at her watch,
"I really do have to go Julia. Are you going to be okay?"
"I always am."
"Please just think about what I said. Mason is a lot of things, but a fool isn't one of them. He lives in the present and thinks of the future. He knows what he has with you and there's no way he's just going to throw all of that away for a 25 year old romance."
(EXT: Edmund's Creepy Castle)
---Marcello, Lionel, and Augusta rush to the door Sophia told them she could sneak them into. When they signal her phone, she runs down and opens the door. Lionel is stunned to see Sophia standing before him.
"My God. It's true. Sophia.....how..."
"My name is not Sophia. I don't believe we've met. I'm Loretta. Loretta Lavery."
"I see. Well it's a pleasure to meet you Soretta....I mean Loretta. This is my wife, Augusta."
"Augusta? Actually we've already met, haven't we?"
"Yes, at Lady DuMonde's ball. How have you been?"
Sophia asks Marcello why he's brought these people with her and he tells her he was hoping they could help jog her memory. Sophia is confused about how total strangers could refresh anything and grows uncomfortable with them all being there.
"Are you ready for the hypnosis?"
"Actually, I've changed my mind. To be honest, I'm starting to believe you have me confused with a completely different person. I've been remembering more and more about my life and none of you are a part of it."
"If only that were true," Augusta interjects.
"And what, pre tell, is that supposed to mean?"
"For as much turmoil as you've caused, it's laughable for me to hear you even utter those words.. Not a part of our lives. You only ruined mine, or at least tried to. On several occassions. Frankly, I'm starting to feel sorry at my attempt to even help you. Stay Loretta for the rest of your life for all I care. I'm sure you'll be very happy with Dr. Jeckyll and Vera."
"Excuse me? Nobody speaks to me like that in my home, certainly not some commoner I've barely ever laid eyes on..."
Lionel holds Augusta back as she goes to lunge for Loretta.
"Perhaps peasant would be a better word for the way you''re acting. All of you please leave. This was all a huge mistake. Please just go."
"But Sophia, please, we're only trying to help yo-"
"Stop calling me that. My name is Loretta Lavery and it's going to stay that way. I don't trust any of you, not a one. Oh, and Marcello. Here's your phone. Take it. I want no part of this anymore. Edmund makes me very happy and I him. He'd never do a thing to harm me. He's the kindest, gentlest man I've ever met in my life. I don't see why I ever fell for your lines and your connery. Go on. TAKE IT! Take it and get the hell out of here or I'll have security THROW YOU OUT!"
"Who, that dolt maid of yours? We've already met. Wow. Even brainwashed, you're still the same sanctimonious bitch you always were. I, for one, am happy to go and never have set eyes on you again. Oh and congratulations by the way. Dr. Lavery is a lovely man. I'm sure the two of you will be very happy together. Come on Lionel."
"She's made herself quite clear. It's time that we leave. She obviously doesn't want or need her help. Besides, I'm sure CC has already moved on......with a much younger woman, if memory serves. Younger and more beautiful. Do be well though Loretta-Bot. Send pictures- create a Facebook page. And please, tell Dr Lavery I'm quite impressed with his work."
Marcello convinces Lionel that Augusta is right. Nothing is going to get accomplished with Sophia as agitated as she is and they'd best go. But while Sophia is distracted, he slips a tracking device into her suitcase.
(EXT: Santa Barbara airport)
----Pearl and Kirk patiently wait at the airport for Eden to arrive.
"You know Kirkie, Edie's never gonna look twice at you, contrary to what you think."
"This isn't about Eden, believe it or not. It's about clearing my name. I've worked hard to rehabilitate myself and that man has risked me and my reputation."
"Reputation? Kidnapping? Gaslighting? Attempted murders? Although, that shot you took at Gina...... Your reputation speaks for itself Kirkie boy."
"Maybe so. At least I have had a wife. When was the last time you dated a woman who didn't feel sorry for you? And we both know you're not coming for Eden. You're coming because you're still pining for Kelly Capwell. And that ship has sailed my friend. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a business call I need to make"
Kirk walks off as Pearl watches suspiciously. He dials the number and waits for the answer. A mystery voice answers on the other end,
"Ok, everything is in motion. I've done my part. Eden is on her way to London. Now it's time for you to hold up your end of the deal."
"Oh don't worry Kirk. By the time I'm through, Eden Castillo will never be the same."
THE END........For Today

At first, the network execs at SONBC (and many fans for that matter) were rightfully skeptical about the show's return. However, in his most REVEALING interview yet, Greg us anxious, excited, concerned, and confused all at the same time. One thing is for certain though: If everything Greg states here comes to fruition, 2013 is going to be one hell of a year for 'Santa Barbara' and 'Return to Santa Barbara' fans. Read on in the article for some surprising casting tidbits, a surprising recast, and all the interesting twists and turns that Greg/juniorz has planned for this year.
SONBC: First off, congratulations on your comeback today! It's been a long wait- 6 years to be exact- for the continuing story of 'Return to Santa Barbara' to make it to the airwaves. Can you give us some insight on that?
JUNIORZ1: To best understand, one must go back to the beginning. Many thought that I brought 'Return to Santa Barbara' to SONBC as a ratings stunt to jump-start the network and give "King Reilly's DAYS" a run for its money. That simply isn't true, though I won't deny I was thrilled with the ratings we did receive, which far exceeded that of the original program. We were the top-viewed blog almost every week we aired, even if we only put out 2 or 3 episodes in that week. But make no mistake, I was as shocked as anyone by that reception. In fact, I had no idea what was happening, until people began registering to SON with Santa Barbara-themed names just so they could post in the 'RTSB' comment section. I think around 30 members joined in November 2006 simply to read and comment on the blog, which was a nice surprise. The biggest compliment, however, is how much they enjoyed it and the comparisons my writing got to that of the Dobsons years on the show. For someone that was always a HUGE 'Santa Barbara' fan and dreamed of writing it as a small child, there was and is no greater compliment and I was humbled.
But back to why it came about. Another SON member, KMan101, Private Messaged me, asking about the history of SB because he was thinking of bringing it to SONBC. I didn't respond, as I had already thought about bringing it on myself and there was no way I was going to allow someone who didn't watch nor know the history of the original series, try to write a version of 'Santa Barbara' without my take coming out first. A couple weeks later, I announced in the BLOG section of SON that I would be starting a brand new soap, "Return to Santa Barbara." I was inundated with requests from long-time members of this board to write 'RTSB' so anyone could read it, even if they hadn't watched the original show. But my creative vision was already planned in my head, and had been since Marcy Walker left SB in 1991 and I began writing my own version of SB when I was 12 to get through that difficult time. (Editor's Note: JuniorZ has never kept his adoration for Ms. Walker hidden here on SON- it's well known that he is her biggest fan in these parts). The stories of 'RTSB' had been conceived in 1994, the final year that I wrote my version of Santa Barbara, which I was the only person who ever read. I used to have a binder filled with 'SB' episodes and even created a spinoff in 1993 that focused on The Hartley family (Nick Hartley's family, that is), which I put in a separate binder. When I had stopped writing SB in the 90s, I was at what I thought was one of the strongest points I had in my stories. And that is what inspired 'RTSB.' Characters like Elizabeth Wayne and Dr. Edmund Lavery may have been new to real-life Santa Barbara viewers, but they had been in my head for 12 years when this blog began.
SONBC: Talk to us about the casting of 'RTSB.' For a new take on a well-known old soap, there was a surprising amount of new characters, actors, and recasts of beloved characters. Some of the time, the originals returned (like Robin Mattson replacing Leann Hunley as Gina right before the premeiere, and Justin Deas returning and replacing Tuc Watkins in the now-infamous spoof episode that first aired on January 15, 2007 and repeats today). Care to explain yourself here?
JUNIORZ1: Sure. This wasn't supposed to be 'Santa Barbara'-lite. This was always going to be a new, updated version of the series. Sometimes, to gain proper interest in veteran characters, new characters need to be introduced to ignite story. While Elizabeth Wayne, Dr. Edmund Lavery, Steve Hall, Sherri Rhodes, Joann Walsh, Carla Ramirez, and Marta Ramirez were all brand new characters, each one of them was written in story with the veteran characters of the show, gave those characters fresh stories, and while the viewers didn't love them at first, I think I mostly found ways to make them care about them as much as I did and as much as they did their beloved characters. Elizabeth was probably the MOST HATED character on the show in the beginning, because many of my fans were CC & Sophia fans and she clearly was going to be an interloper in that relationship. They HATED the backstory because it didn't paint Sophia as a heroine. But what many of them failed to remember is that on 'Santa Barbara,' Sophia was ALWAYS written as the heroine who had the backstory of a villainess, ESPECIALLY in the era when she had supposedly married CC and broken up his marriage to Pamela. The Elizabeth backstory just added another layer to that, perhaps a darker one than the SB fans were used to with Sophia (she took part in forcing an illegal abortion on her younger sister when both were very young). But it was written in a way that nobody in the storyline was innocent- not CC, not Sophia, not Elizabeth, and certainly not Sophia & Elizabeth's father (a character never mentioned on the original show and while he had long passed before RTSB in the storyline, he was certainly integral to the backstory.)
As for the recasts, I admit I had issues with some of the casting decisions made on 'Santa Barbara,' particularly Marj Dusay's take on Pamela Capwell Conrad and Jack Wagner's false version of Warren Lockridge. But Pamela was going to be pivotal to 'RTSB' and I had story planned for Warren as well, so both were re-introduced with recast characters. And while viewers seemed indifferent to Grant Aleksander taking on the role of Warren Lockridge, many were incensed that Carmen Duncan was playing Pamela. I was surprised to learn just how many fans Marj Dusay had, but she just never fit the role of Pamela for me (Shirley Anne Field, the original Pamela, was far closer to what I had always imagined Pamela to be) and I refused to bring her back even when fans were adamant that Pamela was supposed to be a brunette like Mason. But there was a method to my madness, and Marj Dusay had never once entered my mind while I was writing my Pamela. I wanted Pamela to be a blonde because I wanted her to be getting proper revenge on Sophia, and copying her hair color was part of that. I never once said Pamela was a natural blonde and I believe I even mentioned her having her hair bleached in one of the episodes. Carmen Duncan was, and still is, my Pamela, and probably always will be.
I also had this conviction that NO actor on 'RTSB' could be employed on another soap. The only exception I made was with Nancy Lee Grahn's Julia, which is only because I have met Nancy in person and there is NO WAY she would allow another actress to play Julia if she were offered the chance to re-create her. Even though she's played GH's Alexis far longer, most still consider Julia Wainright to be Ms. Grahn's signature role and I truly believe she would leave 'GH' in a heartbeat if she could play Julia again.
SONBC: One of your most highly touted recasts, and highest rated episodes, was the introduction of Linda Gibboney as Victoria Lane, a character originally played by Kristen Meadows.
JUNIORZ1: Actually, that was my HIGHEST rated LIVE episode. When that episode was published, there were nearly 20 people waiting inside the blog to see who would be playing Victoria. It was the pinnacle of the series at that time. However, I think many will be surprised to learn that when 'RTSB' returns today, Kristen Meadows is back as Victoria Lane and is now a contract player. (EDITOR'S NOTE- Check the cast crawl on the right, which has been updated to include the current contract & recurring cast of 'RTSB.')
SONBC: You are famous for your secrecy, which we think has been one of the key reasons that 'RTSB' has been so successful. Can you please give us a bit of a teaser/preview of what's to come on 'RTSB.'
JUNIORZ1: Yes, I can.....
SONBC: Ok..... Well, will you?
JUNIORZ1: Since your question is now properly phrased, I'd be happy to. Certain storylines will be wrapping up and spiraling the characters involved in them into something new. One of those is the Edmund/Soretta storyline (Soretta is a fan created nickname for the current version of Sophia, who has been brainwashed into thinking she is Loretta Lavery, Edmund's first wife). That actually started in the 2010 episodes. The fans have been DYING to see Sophia back in Santa Barbara and going toe to toe with her sister Elizabeth and nemesis Pamela, and I have been dying to write it. It is going to happen this year, I can assure you that. The storyline & fallout have already been set up and the repercussions of it will be felt throughout the canvas. But as they say, be careful what you wish for. I can promise that Sophia's happiness will be short-lived.
This will also spring Lionel & Augusta and the entire Lockridge clan in a new direction, one that has been inspired by my own family drama of 2012. I am EXTREMELY excited to start writing that storyline, as it will be quite a release for me. 'RTSB' viewers will learn, through the Lockridges, the reasons that I was unable to bring 'RTSB' back in 2012 and I think they will be SHOCKED. It's one of those soap stories that is so unbelievably tragic that fans won't even believe it could possibly happen in real life. But it did. In my own family. And my perspective will mostly be written through Laken Lockridge, which should be interesting, since Laken has always been a bit of a blank canvas. But Shell Danielson is back (on contract) and Laken will be a very clearly defined character from here on out, which I don't believe she ever was on 'Santa Barbara,' which is part of what makes it so interesting to write.
The Julia/Mason/Mary triangle will come to a (sort of) resolution, as Mason & Mary finally meet and (try to) bond with their long-lost child, who is now 27 years old! That's a LONG time not to know your own child and it will be an adjustment for everyone involved. But don't be fooled for a second- this will not be an easy decision for Mason and though a decision has been made, that pain & longing of the losing party will continue on throughout her upcoming story. While this part of the triangle may be over, this is a soap. And on soaps, it's never over. Think Nikki/Victor/Ashley on Y&R.
Brandon's storyline is going to spring into action and will be HUGE. I'm also introducing one of my all-time favorite actors, Victor Webster, in the role of Chip. True, he isn't hispanic, but neither is Chip (only 50% of him is). The younger generation of 'RTSB' is going to move from the background to the forefront, which is always how it was planned. HOWEVER, their stories will also heavily involve veteran characters, so I think the viewers will be quite invested in them. EVERYTHING on 'RTSB' has a ripple effect, always, and Brandon's storyline is MAJOR, as it should be. Brandon, and the fight for Brandon, was a HUGE part of the first 5 years of 'Santa Barbara,' so it's only fitting that we revisit that history.
Finally, one character I'd like to talk about is Joann Walsh. She has been re-cast (see the cast crawl) and now has a VERY PERMANENT direction that will be SHOCKING to long-time SB and RTSB fans. I've always said Joann isn't who you think she is, and she still isn't. But the direction that I originally intended for her has shifted more times than I care to count, so much so that I no longer had a handle on her myself during the last months of 'RTSB.' That has completely changed and is inspired by my re-watching old storylines on YouTube. I truly think the fans will be shocked by this and are going to just LOVE it!
SONBC: Well color us intrigued. Any parting words?
JUNIORZ1: Yes. I want to thank all of the "Return to Santa Barbara" fans that have been SO patient in waiting for the series to come back. I was truly humbled in 2010 to be receiving 1000 hits a week for only writing 12 episodes. But this year, there will be FAR more episodes than that. I want this to be a gift to everyone who has patiently waited and politely asked me over the years when 'RTSB' would be returning. I'm so happy and excited to bring it back that it's indescribable. I just hope the fans enjoy reading it as much as I have writing it.
SONBC: Thanks JuniorZ. Look for a repeat of the infamous 'RTSB' "spoof" episode that was written in 2007 sometime today and for the first brand new episode of 'Return to Santa Barbara' to launch in PrimeTime tonight. After that, I will do my best to stick to the schedule as planned, which you can also find on the right side of the blog. And be sure to check out the updated cast list on the right, and a news item this weekend explaining the reasoning for some of the changes.
